Hide Post History Outtake: Press release: FIRE EXPLORING PROGRAM HOLDS YOUTH TRAINING CONFERENCE PEORIA- On Saturday, October 24, 2009, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm the W. D. Boyce Council Exploring program will hold its annual Fire Exploring Conference at the Peoria Fire Department Training Academy, 7130 N Galena Rd., Peoria, IL 61615. The conference will allow youth involved in the Fire Exploring program a chance to refine their skills in a variety of fire related trainings. Seven fire departments from Central Illinois are participating in this event including: Peoria, Mendota, El Paso, Hudson, McNabb, Spring Bay and Northern Tazewell.  Over 50 young men and women will have the opportunity to test their skills at trainings including a live burn, auto extrication and a flashover simulation. Fire Exploring is part of the B.S.A.’s Exploring program, which provides youth ages 14-21 with an opportunity to gain hands on experience in a career field as well as enhance their leadership skills.
